Drawing Review and Dimensional Control
Before production begins, our technical team reviews the customer's drawings and confirms the main manufacturing requirements, including:
- Overall tank dimensions
- Steel plate thickness
- Tank wall, bottom and cover structures
- Radiator flange positions
- Bushing and valve openings
- Lifting lugs and jacking pads
- Conservator and accessory supports
- Stiffener arrangement
- Transportation and installation requirements
Critical dimensions are checked throughout the manufacturing process. Particular attention is given to flange alignment, opening positions, mounting points and assembly interfaces to help reduce fitting problems at the transformer manufacturer's workshop.

Welding and Structural Manufacturing
Large power transformer tanks contain long welded seams, reinforced corners, heavy mounting structures and multiple accessory interfaces. ZHIHE combines robotic welding with experienced manual welding according to the structure and accessibility of each joint.
Robotic welding helps maintain stable weld formation and production consistency. Skilled welders complete corners, stiffeners, flanges and other complex areas requiring manual operation.
After welding, the tank is inspected for:
- Weld continuity and appearance
- Surface defects
- Structural deformation
- Critical dimensions
- Flange alignment
- Opening positions
- Lifting and supporting structures
Welded surfaces are then ground and prepared according to the specified coating and appearance requirements.
Surface Treatment for Outdoor Operation
Power transformers may operate outdoors under high humidity, industrial pollution, coastal salt spray or strong ultraviolet exposure. ZHIHE provides C3–C5 corrosion-protection systems according to the project environment and customer specifications.
Available options include:
C3 coating: Standard industrial and urban environments
C4 coating: Highly humid or polluted industrial environments
C5 coating: Coastal, offshore and highly corrosive environments
Zinc-rich primer: Available according to the coating specification
Customized topcoat: Color, gloss and dry-film thickness can be specified
Surface treatment can include cleaning, sandblasting, primer application, intermediate coating and topcoat application. Coating thickness and surface appearance are inspected before delivery.

Leak Testing and Quality Control
Oil tightness is one of the most important requirements for a power transformer tank. Every ZHIHE oil tank undergoes leak testing before painting or powder coating.
During testing, the tank is pressurized according to the approved inspection procedure. Welded seams, flanges and connection areas are checked using a leak-detection solution. Any air bubbles indicate a possible leakage point, which must be repaired and retested.
The quality-control process includes:
- Raw material inspection
- Cutting and forming inspection
- Welding-process inspection
- Dimensional verification
- Flange and opening-position inspection
- 100% leak testing
- Surface preparation inspection
- Coating thickness inspection
- Final inspection before packing
Inspection reports and leak-test records can be prepared according to the customer's documentation requirements.
