Leak Testing Comes Before Painting
For a main transformer oil tank, leakage control is one of the most important manufacturing requirements. After welding is completed, the unpainted tank undergoes air-pressure testing. Soap water is applied to weld seams, flange joints and other critical areas to reveal even small leaks through visible bubbles.
Leak testing is performed before sandblasting and painting. If a weld requires correction, it can be repaired and retested without damaging the final coating system.
Only after the tank passes inspection does it proceed to surface treatment and painting. This sequence protects both sealing reliability and coating quality.
